Computer Concepts Limited (CCL) has been named Professional Service Medium/Large Enterprise winners at the Champion Canterbury Awards, for the second year running.

Following success at the 2015 awards, the growing Christchurch-based IT provider has one again been recognised as a leading business within the Canterbury region.

The Champion Canterbury Business Awards recognise and celebrate the excellence, innovation, and success of businesses and charities in the Canterbury region and are seen as some of the New Zealand’s most prestigious business awards.

“It was such a proud and humbling moment to accept the award on behalf of all the CCL team,” CCL founder and director, Darryl Swann, told Reseller News.

“This award is really a reflection of our culture. Our whole business is built around our quality of our people and the passion they all bring to work every day.

“It’s the awesome work they all do every day that won this award and has made this company great. It’s our culture and the trust of our Clients that has made this award possible.”

Swann said CCL now has over 250 staff nationwide, with the award recognising the “passion and values” instilled across the company’s offices in Christchurch, Auckland, Wellington, Dunedin, Nelson and Blenheim.

“This award is really recognition of both our team and our incredibly loyal clients,” he added.

“What makes this award so unique, apart from winning it twice, is that it’s not an industry focused award. In the Champion Canterbury Awards we are up against accounting firms, legal firms, IT firms, tourism and many other different industries.

“The other two finalist companies we were up against was Orbit Travel and Aecom; both awesome businesses in their own right.”

The consecutive crowning completes a stellar 12 months for CCL, after the company claimed the Cloud Partner of the Year Award at the 2015 Reseller News ICT Industry Awards in Auckland.

Such recognition didn’t go unnoticed, with Spark New Zealand completing a $50 million acquisition of the company in December, providing a key geographical boost for the telco in the process.

“We’ve had some amazing successes which show we are on the top of our game in the industry,” Swann added.

Educating from the epicentre - Why distributors are the pulse checkers of the channel

As the channel changes and industry voices deepen, the need for clarity and insight heightens. Market misconceptions talk of an “under pressure” distribution space, with competitors in that fateful “race for relevance” across New Zealand. Amidst the cliched assumptions however, distribution is once again showing its strength, as a force to be listened to, rather than questioned. Traditionally, the role was born out of a need for vendors and resellers to find one another, acting as a bridge between the testing lab and the marketplace. Yet despite new technologies and business approaches shaking the channel to its very core, distributors remain tied to the epicentre - providing the voice of reason amidst a seismic industry shift. In looking across both sides of the vendor and partner fences, the middle concept of the three-tier chain remains centrally placed to understand the metrics of two differing worlds, as the continual pulse checkers of the local channel. This exclusive Reseller News Roundtable, in association with Dicker Data and rhipe, examined the pivotal role of distribution in understanding the health of the channel, educating from the epicentre as the market transforms at a rapid rate.
