Ingram Micro has extended the availability of cloud data protection solutions from Acronis to four additional Cloud Marketplaces across the Asia Pacific region, including New Zealand.

Building on its existing global relationship in North America and Europe, Acronis is now offered through the Ingram Micro Cloud Marketplace in 14 countries, bolstering the distributor’s disaster recovery play in New Zealand.

“As today's data protection landscape continues to rapidly evolve, the increased user demand for backup and disaster recovery solutions provides a significant revenue opportunity for channel partners,” says Richard Duggan, Executive Director APAC, Ingram Micro Cloud.

“The combination of the Cloud Marketplace with Acronis' trusted data protection solutions enables channel partners to quickly deploy affordable, user-friendly products that deliver greater value to customers and boost their own competitive edge and profitability.”

Built on advanced cloud architecture, Acronis solutions are powered by AnyData Engine, a set of hybrid cloud data protection solutions that protect workloads of any type, across all environments and locations.

With Acronis exclusively unveiling its redesigned plans for the Kiwi channel market to Reseller News, the local expansion now allows Ingram Micro channel partners to configure and manage cloud data protection solutions from a single automated platform.

“Through this strengthened channel alliance, our partners in the Asia Pacific region are now better equipped to exploit the huge market opportunity for cloud data protection,” adds John Zanni, CMO, Acronis.

“We are excited to fully leverage Ingram Micro's extensive channel network and Cloud Marketplace across the region, as well as the added value they bring to deliver an extremely easy-to-use, cost-effective solution for data protection.”

Educating from the epicentre - Why distributors are the pulse checkers of the channel

As the channel changes and industry voices deepen, the need for clarity and insight heightens. Market misconceptions talk of an “under pressure” distribution space, with competitors in that fateful “race for relevance” across New Zealand. Amidst the cliched assumptions however, distribution is once again showing its strength, as a force to be listened to, rather than questioned. Traditionally, the role was born out of a need for vendors and resellers to find one another, acting as a bridge between the testing lab and the marketplace. Yet despite new technologies and business approaches shaking the channel to its very core, distributors remain tied to the epicentre - providing the voice of reason amidst a seismic industry shift. In looking across both sides of the vendor and partner fences, the middle concept of the three-tier chain remains centrally placed to understand the metrics of two differing worlds, as the continual pulse checkers of the local channel. This exclusive Reseller News Roundtable, in association with Dicker Data and rhipe, examined the pivotal role of distribution in understanding the health of the channel, educating from the epicentre as the market transforms at a rapid rate.
