Resellers on red alert as Acronis hammers home data protection platform

“For companies everywhere, suffering from data loss and disasters is not a matter of if, but when it will happen."

Acronis has introduced the Acronis Data Protection Platform, a new generation Cloud platform that transforms the way data protection is delivered to end user customers by service providers, resellers and distributors.

The Acronis Data Protection Platform delivers data protection solutions for backup, disaster recovery, and secure file sync and share.

Encouraging Acronis partners to tap into the growing and under-served market for cloud data protection services, the platform supports a “broad range” of deployment models, business models, and technology environments in use by service providers, resellers and distributors today.

“For companies everywhere, suffering from data loss and disasters is not a matter of if, but when it will happen,” says Serguei Beloussov, co-founder and CEO, Acronis.

“With the introduction of the Acronis Data Protection Platform, we make complete data protection easy, complete and affordable for businesses of all sizes and empower service providers and resellers to capitalise on this massive market opportunity.”

As part of this announcement, Acronis is also releasing a new version of Acronis Backup Cloud and introducing Acronis Files Cloud, its new file sync and share solution alongside the global availability of Acronis Disaster Recovery Service, its all-in-one solution for backup and disaster recovery.

As businesses worldwide become more vulnerable to data loss and disasters, many are looking to cloud solutions for more protection, especially mid-sized companies and small businesses.

In fact, IDC research found that data storage, backup and recovery is the #1 cloud infrastructure use case among businesses with 55 per cent currently using or planning to use these external cloud infrastructure services in the next 12 months.”

“Australian and New Zealand businesses, that are no longer interested in isolated point solutions from disconnected services, will benefit from this new end-to-end solution,” adds Lincoln Goldsmith, General Manager A/NZ, Acronis.

“This comprehensive cloud platform allows companies to manage a full data protection solution themselves or choose for a trusted service provider or reseller to do it for them.

“This solution will change the way companies are thinking about data protection and disaster recovery and provide them with a whole new range of possibilities.”

Educating from the epicentre - Why distributors are the pulse checkers of the channel

As the channel changes and industry voices deepen, the need for clarity and insight heightens. Market misconceptions talk of an “under pressure” distribution space, with competitors in that fateful “race for relevance” across New Zealand. Amidst the cliched assumptions however, distribution is once again showing its strength, as a force to be listened to, rather than questioned. Traditionally, the role was born out of a need for vendors and resellers to find one another, acting as a bridge between the testing lab and the marketplace. Yet despite new technologies and business approaches shaking the channel to its very core, distributors remain tied to the epicentre - providing the voice of reason amidst a seismic industry shift. In looking across both sides of the vendor and partner fences, the middle concept of the three-tier chain remains centrally placed to understand the metrics of two differing worlds, as the continual pulse checkers of the local channel. This exclusive Reseller News Roundtable, in association with Dicker Data and rhipe, examined the pivotal role of distribution in understanding the health of the channel, educating from the epicentre as the market transforms at a rapid rate.
