Paessler continues A/NZ sales growth with free IT infrastructure monitoring offering

“Network monitoring solutions can be of particular benefit to smaller organisations where personnel and financial resources are limited."

Paessler AG has today announced that its formerly commercial license PRTG 100, for its flagship product PRTG Network Monitor, is now available for free.

According to the company, this offering enables SMEs, start-ups or private users operating an elaborate home network, to better monitor their IT infrastructure to avoid downtime or disruption to the network.

PRTG 100 will provide users with the complete range of functions, including remote probes enabling network monitoring at different locations.

The license provides 100 sensors that can monitor servers, switches, (terminal) devices, virtual environments and even applications, as required by the individual business.

Regular software updates, comprehensive support through FAQs, manuals and video tutorials are also included. Further, administrators can download the app version of PRTG Network Monitor for free, to get updates on their network status while on the go. The app is available for iOS, Android, Blackberry (Beta) and Windows Phone.

“Network monitoring solutions can be of particular benefit to smaller organisations where personnel and financial resources are limited,” says Dirk Paessler, founder and CEO of Paessler.

“With growing trends such as the Internet of Things and more complex IT infrastructures, businesses must ensure the smooth running of operations to achieve optimum business performance and success.”

PRTG Network Monitor 100 will be available for download in Australia and New Zealand from today.

Moreover, for the first 30 days, PRTG can be trialled with an unlimited number of sensors, after which time users can continue with 100 sensors for free, permanently.

Paessler recently announced a 40% increase in sales for Australia and New Zealand in 2014, based on preliminary results, positioning the region as the company’s sixth largest sales market globally.

Paessler says PRTG 100 enables businesses to monitor the network by using protocols such as SNMP, Packet Sniffing or Flow, in addition to setting sensors for the common network services Ping, HTTP, FTP etc.

The sensors can monitor all of the traffic that is passing a switch. Virtual environments can also be integrated by the administrator as well.

“When I was looking for a suitable network monitoring solution for myself eighteen years ago, I couldn’t find anything that was easy to operate and that offered an extensive set of features,” Paessler adds.

“As a result, we started developing PRTG and always put significant emphasis on user-friendliness. Everyone should be able to use PRTG in no time at all.

“Today, I’m convinced that our software can be of tremendous help for every company, regardless of its size or sector. Of course, it’s a big step for us to offer a license, which was formerly US$440, for free.

“But I believe it’s a win for both sides. Administrators all over the world can profit from full functionality, professional monitoring and optimisation potential, while we are able to extend our installation base.”
