Westcon enhances NZ security portfolio through Palo Alto distie deal

“It will be great to be able to offer Palo Alto in New Zealand as part of our global distribution agreement."

Palo Alto Networks and Westcon Group, recently announced the expansion of a global distribution agreement, which now includes New Zealand.

As a market leader in enterprise security, Palo Alto offers an integrated platform using next-generation firewalls, cloud-based threat intelligence and advanced endpoint protection.

“It will be great to be able to offer Palo Alto in New Zealand as part of our global distribution agreement," says Mark Baker, Sales and Marketing Director, Westcon Group NZ.

"As a partner in our Security Practice, Palo Alto will provide our customers with a broad and consistent security portfolio in New Zealand, while leveraging Westcon’s technical and market expertise to drive opportunity.”

Baker believes that the Palo Alto Networks platform, combined with the opportunity to strengthen new opportunities through its value-added distributor partnership, provides customers with the ability to address a broad range of enterprise security requirements and better enable organisations to manage risks and keep pace with technology developments.

As part of a global distribution agreement, Palo Alto Networks and Westcon Group will soon do business in more than 40 countries worldwide.

"Palo Alto Networks and Westcon Group are committed to enabling channel partners in markets hungry for a true enterprise security platform," adds Keith Carter, Director of Channels and Alliances, APAC, Palo Alto Networks.

"Together we see immense opportunity in New Zealand and are pleased to continue this expansion of our global distribution agreement.”

Educating from the epicentre - Why distributors are the pulse checkers of the channel

As the channel changes and industry voices deepen, the need for clarity and insight heightens. Market misconceptions talk of an “under pressure” distribution space, with competitors in that fateful “race for relevance” across New Zealand. Amidst the cliched assumptions however, distribution is once again showing its strength, as a force to be listened to, rather than questioned. Traditionally, the role was born out of a need for vendors and resellers to find one another, acting as a bridge between the testing lab and the marketplace. Yet despite new technologies and business approaches shaking the channel to its very core, distributors remain tied to the epicentre - providing the voice of reason amidst a seismic industry shift. In looking across both sides of the vendor and partner fences, the middle concept of the three-tier chain remains centrally placed to understand the metrics of two differing worlds, as the continual pulse checkers of the local channel. This exclusive Reseller News Roundtable, in association with Dicker Data and rhipe, examined the pivotal role of distribution in understanding the health of the channel, educating from the epicentre as the market transforms at a rapid rate.
