Exeed launches HP-based cloud platform for resellers

Mycloudstore uses a HP platform that is hosted and managed in NZ, and will allow resellers to self-provision and sell cloud services for predictable revenue streams.

IT distributor Exeed has launched a web-based interface through which resellers will be able to sell cloud solutions.

Mycloudstore uses a HP platform that is hosted and managed in NZ, and will allow resellers to self-provision and sell cloud services for predictable revenue streams.

The launch follows on Westcon's pilot of a cloud platform for resellers that was announced early in July.

Exeed MD Justin Tye said, “Although an increasing number of SMBs are consuming cloud solutions, providing cloud services is a commercial challenge for smaller NZ resellers as they don’t have the scale of a large customer base to justify the cost and risks of owning and operating their own data centres”.

“This was one of the key drivers to create mycloudstore.co.nz, a marketplace portal where resellers can order and provision cloud services as well as selected hardware offerings such as mobility products and access devices designed specifically for the cloud.”

"Mycloudstore’s provisioning platform now allows resellers to sell cloud services while retaining ownership of the billing relationship with the end user customer,” he says.

Through Mycloudstore resellers can also create customised and white labelled cloud services.

At launch, Mycloudstore will offer IaaS, HP LiveVault, a managed server data protection service and Storegate, a solution to sync, share and collaborate in the cloud.

Exeed assures that more solution sets such as braodband data services for businesses, along with cloud software and security, will be made available.

Educating from the epicentre - Why distributors are the pulse checkers of the channel

As the channel changes and industry voices deepen, the need for clarity and insight heightens. Market misconceptions talk of an “under pressure” distribution space, with competitors in that fateful “race for relevance” across New Zealand. Amidst the cliched assumptions however, distribution is once again showing its strength, as a force to be listened to, rather than questioned. Traditionally, the role was born out of a need for vendors and resellers to find one another, acting as a bridge between the testing lab and the marketplace. Yet despite new technologies and business approaches shaking the channel to its very core, distributors remain tied to the epicentre - providing the voice of reason amidst a seismic industry shift. In looking across both sides of the vendor and partner fences, the middle concept of the three-tier chain remains centrally placed to understand the metrics of two differing worlds, as the continual pulse checkers of the local channel. This exclusive Reseller News Roundtable, in association with Dicker Data and rhipe, examined the pivotal role of distribution in understanding the health of the channel, educating from the epicentre as the market transforms at a rapid rate.
