Gerry Wilkins leaves post after 24 years, with Michael Broadbent to take over

Gerry Wilkins has resigned from his post as managing director of Image Design technology (IDT) 24 years after founding the company in 1990.

IDT, based in the northern Sydney suburb of Chatswood, is a distributor of audio-visual technology which operates across Australia and New Zealand (A/NZ). The company was acquired in August 2012 by European distributor, Midwich Group.

Wilkins said he left because “it was time to move on,” and while he is yet to finalise his personal roadmap, he intends to maintain relationships with IDT and a number of its long-term vendors.

Wilkins has been replaced by Michael Broadbent, effective today, who will focus on business development, technical excellence, and customer service.

Broadbent, who has more than 25 years of experience in the AV industry, said, “As a distributor and integrator in previous roles, I’m excited at the opportunity to work with IDT and the team at Midwich.”

“My aim is to ensure that IDT continues to build on its growing positions in the A/NZ markets.”

Broadbent joins IDT from the NSW Ministry of Health with which he worked for just under two years as project and program manager of unified communications (UC) projects within telehealth.
