DiData announces Cloud connection service

According to the company, CPNC services allow clients to establish a dedicated connection between their own network and DiData’s managed cloud platform locations.

Dimension Data (DiData) has announced the availability of Cloud private network connection (CPNC) as an add-on service for its enterprise-class public, private and managed hosting cloud offerings.

According to the company, CPNC services allow clients to establish a dedicated connection between their own network and DiData’s managed cloud platform (MCP) locations to provide greater control over data in the Ccloud.

Manish Pratap, GM for DiData’s Cloud business unit in Asia Pacific said, “CPNC replicates the security, connectivity and responsiveness that enterprises are accustomed to from their own wide area and local area networks.

“Organisations around the world require this type of dedicated connection to cloud services where performance is critical to achieve cost savings; improve throughput and consistency in regions where bandwidth is expensive or unreliable; ensure quality of service; and provide greater security.”

The company stated that CPNC services would be well-suited to healthcare, retail, finance and government industries that require a private connection to MCPs.

The services come in two options. Direct connect provides access to a physical portal at the MCP location at a speed of 1Gbps, while private connect provides access to a virtual port via a partner MPLS provider at flexible speed options.

CPNC services also support multiple access methods including fibre, Ethernet and MPLS.

DiData stated that CNPC services are currently available and clients can opt for access to MCP locations in the US, Netherlands, UK, Australia, Japan, Hong Kong and South Africa.

Educating from the epicentre - Why distributors are the pulse checkers of the channel

As the channel changes and industry voices deepen, the need for clarity and insight heightens. Market misconceptions talk of an “under pressure” distribution space, with competitors in that fateful “race for relevance” across New Zealand. Amidst the cliched assumptions however, distribution is once again showing its strength, as a force to be listened to, rather than questioned. Traditionally, the role was born out of a need for vendors and resellers to find one another, acting as a bridge between the testing lab and the marketplace. Yet despite new technologies and business approaches shaking the channel to its very core, distributors remain tied to the epicentre - providing the voice of reason amidst a seismic industry shift. In looking across both sides of the vendor and partner fences, the middle concept of the three-tier chain remains centrally placed to understand the metrics of two differing worlds, as the continual pulse checkers of the local channel. This exclusive Reseller News Roundtable, in association with Dicker Data and rhipe, examined the pivotal role of distribution in understanding the health of the channel, educating from the epicentre as the market transforms at a rapid rate.
