Microsoft and partners start cloud educational campaign

The campaign, which was launched on the 10th March, will unfold over the next six months. It will include an online hub supported by advertising and events.

Microsoft has selected software design and development partner, Provoke Solutions, and licensing specialist, Insight, to drive an education and awareness campaign about Microsoft cloud solutions.

Called ‘Take a Closer Look’, the campaign focuses on four key areas where the cloud can impact business - innovation and speed to market, development and testing, business continuity and storage and future proofing and scalability.

The campaign, which was launched on the 10th March, will unfold over the next six months.

An online hub, run by Provoke Solutions, brings together resources, calculators and business use cases designed to educate the market about Windows Azure and Office 365.

The campaign will also deliver resources from Insight to provide guidance around optimising licensing of Microsoft products, aligned to specific business needs.

Richard Penny, CMO at Provoke, said the campaign will show how Microsoft’s products have continued to evolve and transform to provide greatest benefit to the market.

“The Closer Look theme connects with the real need for Kiwi organisations to review their cloud strategies and prepare for the inevitable cloud revolution, and in doing so, consider how new developments in Microsoft’s products might form their cloud technology platform.”

Penny also said the online hub will also be supported by a programme of targeted advertising and complemented with a series of events, workshops and technical deep dives.

Microsoft server and tools business group lead, Bradley Borrows said, “We are pleased to have the support and business intelligence that Provoke and Insight will provide as core elements of this campaign.”

Educating from the epicentre - Why distributors are the pulse checkers of the channel

As the channel changes and industry voices deepen, the need for clarity and insight heightens. Market misconceptions talk of an “under pressure” distribution space, with competitors in that fateful “race for relevance” across New Zealand. Amidst the cliched assumptions however, distribution is once again showing its strength, as a force to be listened to, rather than questioned. Traditionally, the role was born out of a need for vendors and resellers to find one another, acting as a bridge between the testing lab and the marketplace. Yet despite new technologies and business approaches shaking the channel to its very core, distributors remain tied to the epicentre - providing the voice of reason amidst a seismic industry shift. In looking across both sides of the vendor and partner fences, the middle concept of the three-tier chain remains centrally placed to understand the metrics of two differing worlds, as the continual pulse checkers of the local channel. This exclusive Reseller News Roundtable, in association with Dicker Data and rhipe, examined the pivotal role of distribution in understanding the health of the channel, educating from the epicentre as the market transforms at a rapid rate.
