SAP appoints leadership for A/NZ Cloud and real-time business units

Tony Armfield and Paul Muller become general managers for Cloud and platform solutions, respectively

Enterprise application software company, SAP, has appointed new leadership for its Cloud and line of business solutions and platform solutions departments in Australia and New Zealand (A/NZ).

Tony Armfield has been named general manager for the company’s Cloud and line of business portfolio, which includes both Cloud and on-premise solutions, including those from Ariba and SuccessFactors.

Armfield first joined SAP A/NZ in June 2013 as area vice-president for SuccessFactors. Prior to this, he held senior executive positions at Salesforce.com, CA Pacific and SAP UK, in a career which spans more than 30 years of international business software and digital media experience.

The platform solutions business will be led by Paul Muller whose title will also be general manager, with responsibility for the local adoption of SAP’s in-memory platform, SAP HANA, and the company’s analytics and mobile offerings.

Muller takes on the role with almost 30 years’ experience in IT. He previously held managing director and sales leadership positions in Australia and Asia-Pacific and Japan (APJ) with Oracle, Siebel, McAfee, and SolNet Solutions.

According to SAP Australia president and managing director, Andrew Barkla, the appointments will help drive A/NZ’s transition to the Cloud and real-time business through SAP HANA. The goal is to deliver simplification to customers’ core technology stack, the end-user experience, and how business software is consumed.

SAP HANA forms the core of it's business innovation platform and is designed to provide seamless integration across SAP’s core applications and analytics solutions. In 2013, the global software revenue for the solution increased by 69 per cent at constant currencies to €664 million (about $1.24 billion).
