Baycorp to deploy Gen-i Voice Connect

Solution to meet WAN, Internet and SIP requirements over single access connection

Debt management company, Baycorp, has chosen Gen-i’s Voice Connect solution as its session initiated protocol (SIP) trunking service, claiming it will help improve its core business performance.

Voice Connect is a SIP which supports voice over IP (VoIP) telephony. The deployment is expected to meet WAN, Internet, and SIP requirements over one access connection.

According to Baycorp NZ country manager, Alex Cruden, Voice Connect was selected due to the scalability of Gen-i’s WAN service across the country.

“One of the key deliverables that Voice Connect will provide us is its capacity to improve performance in our core business of debt recovery,” Cruden said.

“To succeed in this business, we need to be able to increase our number of completed calls, while having enough capacity to continue doing business even when demand is high. Without a strong core network, meeting these targets is impossible.”

In addition to Voice Connect, Baycorp will have access to Gen-i’s full service delivery platform which will provide a range of ReadyCloud products, including the Collaboration solution.

“What an end-to-end service means for Baycorp is a single point of management and accountability, which will reduce complexity for their systems,” Gen-i corporate clients general manager, Steve Mills, said. “It will also enable us to minimise risk by providing network redundancy and failover options for Baycorp.

Gen-i will be migrating Baycorp’s services over the next few months, according to a statement.

Educating from the epicentre - Why distributors are the pulse checkers of the channel

As the channel changes and industry voices deepen, the need for clarity and insight heightens. Market misconceptions talk of an “under pressure” distribution space, with competitors in that fateful “race for relevance” across New Zealand. Amidst the cliched assumptions however, distribution is once again showing its strength, as a force to be listened to, rather than questioned. Traditionally, the role was born out of a need for vendors and resellers to find one another, acting as a bridge between the testing lab and the marketplace. Yet despite new technologies and business approaches shaking the channel to its very core, distributors remain tied to the epicentre - providing the voice of reason amidst a seismic industry shift. In looking across both sides of the vendor and partner fences, the middle concept of the three-tier chain remains centrally placed to understand the metrics of two differing worlds, as the continual pulse checkers of the local channel. This exclusive Reseller News Roundtable, in association with Dicker Data and rhipe, examined the pivotal role of distribution in understanding the health of the channel, educating from the epicentre as the market transforms at a rapid rate.
